The Station at Othello Park

With Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine

Seattle, Washington
2007–2010

A new full-block, apartment and retail mixed-use development adjacent to the Link Light Rail Othello Station.

I participated in design from conceptual design through construction documents. I had the opportunity to lead the drawing production effort through schematic design and design development, managing two other designers working under me. I also acted as a client point of contact, managed consultant coordination, and generated digital renderings.

When the project architect suddenly left in the middle of schematic design, the partners of the firm asked me to take charge until a replacement could be found. Under their design direction, I lead the production effort through schematic design and design development. With 350 apartments in the building, there was a large amount of drawing to be done. The firm had never tackled a project of this size so it didn't have processes in place to take advantage of. I ended up developing my own modeling systems for efficiently putting the set together. The fresh perspective paid off, as multiple city officials and contractors commented it was one of the cleanest, easiest to follow sets they had worked with.

I also produced the Design Review Board Recommendation Meeting Packet and the graphics it contained. By responding to the Design Review Board's previous comments with clearly articulated rationale and supporting graphics, the design received the Board's approval easily in a single meeting.
